Calligraphy Class

In this private class, guests are introduced to Shodō—the classical Japanese art of brush writing—where every stroke reflects balance, intention, and mindfulness. Rooted in centuries of practice and influenced by Zen philosophy, calligraphy is both a visual art and a meditative discipline.

Your session begins with a brief cultural introduction to Shodō and its role in Japanese life. You’ll learn how to properly hold the brush, prepare sumi ink, and form basic strokes before progressing to writing meaningful Japanese characters such as harmony, peace, or heart.

Each guest creates their own finished calligraphy artwork to take home as a personal souvenir.

This experience is taught in a calm, private setting and moves at your group’s pace—perfect for couples, families, and small groups seeking a deeper cultural connection.
