 Step into the world of traditional Japanese art and create your own masterpiece inspired by Ukiyo-e—the iconic woodblock print style that shaped Japan’s visual identity for centuries.

In this private, hands-on class, guests are introduced to the techniques and history behind Ukiyo-e, the art form that flourished during Japan’s Edo period. Famous for its elegant lines, vivid colors, and scenes of daily life, nature, and beauty, Ukiyo-e remains one of Japan’s most celebrated artistic traditions.

Your experience begins with an introduction to the history of woodblock printing and how artists and craftsmen collaborated to produce these intricate works. You’ll learn about carving, layering colors, and hand-pressing techniques before creating your own print using traditional methods.

Under guided instruction, guests apply ink to carved woodblocks and carefully press handmade Japanese paper to reveal their final design. The tactile process of layering and transferring color offers a rare glimpse into authentic Japanese craftsmanship.

Each guest completes a finished print to take home as a meaningful souvenir.
