Private Japanese Matcha Tea Ceremony Experience

Enjoy an intimate, one-of-a-kind encounter with Japan’s timeless tea tradition in a private tatami tea room reserved exclusively for you and your guests.

Our Private Tea Ceremony offers a personalized introduction to chanoyu—the classical Japanese art of preparing matcha—guided by traditional techniques inspired by the lineage of Urasenke.

This experience is designed for couples, families, and small groups seeking a deeper cultural connection in a calm, unrushed setting.

What to Expect

Your ceremony begins with an explanation of Japanese tea philosophy—harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility—followed by the preparation of ceremonial-grade matcha using traditional bamboo utensils. Each guest receives their own freshly whisked bowl of matcha.

To accompany the tea, you will enjoy two styles of authentic Japanese sweets:

  • Seasonal Wagashi – soft, handcrafted confections inspired by nature

  • Higashi Wasanbon – delicate dry sweets made from traditional wasanbon sugar, molded into elegant seasonal forms

These sweets are carefully selected to balance the flavor of matcha while showcasing Japanese aesthetics.

Because this is a private ceremony, your host tailors the experience to your group—explaining each movement, utensil, and element of the tea room at a relaxed pace. Guests are welcome to ask questions, learn basic tea etiquette, and take photos after the ceremony.

This is not a performance—it is a shared cultural moment designed to be peaceful, meaningful, and memorable.
